| Full Name: Rodolphus Selwyn Lestrange Nicknames: Rod to his brother and wife, and his mother and Rabastan sometimes called him Ralph when he was younger. Age: 33 Birthday: August 19th, 1954 House/Year: Slytherin alumnus Occupation: Not being caught by the Ministry, at the moment. He picks up odd jobs in each place they live since the couple knows what they have at the moment won't last forever and they may not be able to access their bank at Gringott's again. Sexuality: Heterosexual. Married, even. Martial Status: See above. Immediate Family: Rodolphus is married to Bellatrix Lestrange and is the son of Carling Lestrange, Daralis (Selwyn) Lestrange (deceased), and brother to Estelle (Lestrange) Montague and Rabastan Lestrange. He is also related to Narcissa Malfoy and family, Andromeda Tonks (disowned) and others through his wife Bella. Blood Status: Pure. Or, as pure as they can be without dying out (since inbreeding can only go so far), and all those little blotches of impurity have been well-hidden. Loyalty/Alliance: Death Eaters Role in the war: Rabastan joined the up with the Dark Lord as soon as he was able to, making his father (a former classmate of Tom Riddle's) very proud, and married Bellatrix by age 20. He did whatever was necessary, though he was always best at assassinations despite his love of torture. He also has a gift with reading tea leaves, known only by his wife and the Dark Lord, and he would regularly read them for Voldemort. Full Personality: Include strengths, weaknesses, and flaws. At least three full paragraphs. As a child, Rodolphus liked to throw rocks at animals and small children. In the Muggle world they have a word for people like him: psychopath. It's quite likely that many supporters of the Dark Lord may have a distaste for killing but feel that the ends justify the means. Death Eaters are often those individuals so fixated on the end that they don't mind the means in one bit. Rodolphus and his wife, however, enjoy the means. It's quite true that Rodolphus tortured on the Dark Lord's orders, but Rodolphus will never be able to deny he didn't enjoy it. Rodolphus is about as quiet as his wife is loud, but it really works for the two of them. While she cackles with glee, he barely breathes when he's excited. He's a sadistic, no-nonsense gentleman who won't say much unless he's criticizing something or someone. He is more in control of himself than his wife is, so unlike Bella, he is skilled in thinking on his feet, especially when things go wrong. Along these same lines, he is very cross if he can't have his afternoon tea each day. His three greatest strengths, in his opinion, are silent killings, torture, and tea leaves. Being the silent type, he was often used by the Dark Lord to eliminate an enemy when they need to be taken out quickly and quietly. When it came to torture, like his wife, Rodolphus knows very well that in order for the Cruciatus Curse to be very effective, you have to want to hurt the other person, and he's very, very good at that curse. His father began to teach it to him at a fairly early age, and he began practicing on cats, then moved up to House Elves, and finally to Muggle prostitutes. Lastly, he somehow got an O on his Divination NEWT and has always had a knack for reading tea leaves, though he doesn't enjoy it all that much. Appearance: A shorter man, Rodolphus makes up with what he lacks in height with his demeanor. When he wishes, his aggressive stance and calculating stare intimidate even those taller than him. He has a tendency to look rather innocent, despite the fact that he very rarely smiles, most who meet him would have no clue he's evil until he wants them to know. More than anything, due to his height and build, he looks somewhat awkward, always. PB: Colin Greenwood. History: Rodolphus was born to an affluent Pure-blooded family. Like many others, his father and mother were both Slytherins before him and those in the family who disgraced the Lestrange name were taken off the family tree in one way or another. (Most were just erased as if they never existed, though a few were stoned and their deaths placed a few convenient years earlier, and one was rumoured to have been made into soup. This has not been confirmed.) Carling Lestrange, a classmate and "friend" of Tom Riddle though two years younger, married Daralis Selwyn and soon Rodolphus was born, with Estelle and then Rabastan a few years after. Rodolphus was Sorted into Slytherin, unsurprisingly, and was dorm-mates with Lucius Malfoy, with whom he got along well. Beginning the summer after his third year at school, Carling began to play his own hand in Rodolphus' education and by the summer after his fifth year he had begun to learn the Cruciatus Curse. Growing up the eldest child, Rodolphus was used to being the responsible one and instruct his siblings what to do, but he also was used to (and enjoyed) having the most freedom. Since he took well to the purist ideology, he never viewed his social responsibilities to his family as a burden and instead enjoyed them. He graduated from Hogwarts in 1972, and at the urging of his father, joined the Death Eaters straightaway. By the age of 20 he married Bellatrix Black, a woman whom he greatly admired for both her ideology and for being the only woman to become a Death Eater herself. They got along very well and the match pleased their families, and Rodolphus could not have been happier. The war raged and Rodolphus was certain of victory, but then one day it was suddenly over and the Death Eaters fled. He soon found himself in exile, and has spent the past few years wandering around with his wife, never staying in one place for too long, since though the British Ministry didn't seem to be after them, there were always a few rogues heros or mercenaries hired by the families of someone he once killed. They couldn't quite stay in a foreign Wizarding town, nor did they wish to be near Muggles, so more often than not they kept in rural areas, quietly waiting out the years. |
